WHO WE ARE

Voices From Our Community

Concordia 518 is rooted in Christopher Price’s long-standing commitment to music education and student growth. These testimonials reflect the experience and the environment we aim continues to create for every student.

“It was in 8th grade choir when I first met Mr. Price. At the time, he was a teacher assistant during our rehearsals. I had a lower voice than most, so singing higher-range music was very difficult for me. On top of that, I lacked confidence in my singing ability and even considered quitting choir before high school.

That all changed during one rehearsal. Mr. Price noticed that I was struggling and losing passion, so he pulled me aside and brought me to another classroom. There he worked with me one-on-one, giving me tips on my technique and guided me through several singing exercises. By the end, I already felt more confident and inspired to improve my singing ability and range.

After 8th grade, I continued to participate in choir and even made the select choir, “Choralaires,” directed by Mr. Price, where I sang throughout all four years of high school. Mr. Price’s passion and ability to teach is ever so contagious and inspiring. He has pushed me to grow in ways I never thought possible. Whether it was encouraging me to sing out instead of hiding my voice, giving me opportunities to sing with higher-level choirs, or believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself, he has made an everlasting impact on me, musically and personally. So much so that his impact has lasted far beyond high school. I now sing with my college choir and was recently accepted into my college’s select choir.

Because of Mr. Price, I have developed a deep love and passion for music that I know I will forever carry with myself, and share with others, just as he did.”

“I was blessed to have Mr. Price as my music teacher. It’s because of him that I felt inspired to pursue music as a career, and because of him that I strive to be the best musician I can possibly be. From a young age to present day, I have always loved to sing, and just by having him as my high school choir teacher, my passion for music was amplified.

His fun character alone made all his students feel encouraged and welcome. His classroom was a safe environment where mistakes were encouraged. He truly made a huge impact on the whole school’s music program and my life. Something that stuck out to me was how even though he may have been exhausted or sick some days, he would still bring the same funny loving energy to class.

He would share his life experiences and build a relationship with his students, which I loved. Not only was it an amazing experience from the classroom environment, but it also grew me so much as a musician. I saw the choir as a whole grow skill wise and as people. Mr. Price knew what music we were capable of creating, even if it seemed like it would be too challenging for us to do. He was very intentional with piece selections, and thoughtful with the messages he wished to convey. I can’t even express how thankful I am for him.”

As the parent of four children, I have had the privilege of watching Chris work his magic with each of them and the results have been nothing short of remarkable. What sets Chris apart is not just his musical expertise, but his rare ability to meet each child exactly where they are.

He recognized the unique strengths, learning styles, and personalities of all four of my kids and tailored his approach accordingly, nurturing their individual gifts with patience and genuine care.

Under Chris’s guidance, each of my children has blossomed into a confident, capable performer. Where there was once hesitation and self-doubt, there is now poise and joy. Chris has an extraordinary gift for building stage presence alongside technical skill — his students don’t just learn to sing music, they learn to own it.

Any family fortunate enough to have Chris as their teacher is in exceptional hands. He is, without question, one of the most impactful educators my children have ever had.

“When I was a student attending Tamarac High School, Christopher Price absolutely changed my entire music experience. He created something so special in our small community. He created opportunity, engagement and a program unlike anything Tamarac had ever experienced.

Everything he did always had the best intentions to push students and showcase their talents to the best of their abilities. The growth I experienced, the confidence I grew, and the love for my school's music program was truly remarkable thanks to him. I remember feeling discouraged with choral singing. Feeling like I wasn’t good enough or didn’t have the ability to fit into a choir thanks to my naturally loud voice and lack of training.

Mr. Price saw something in me though. I’ll never forget when he picked me to sing a solo at NYSMA. I was shocked and thought I didn’t deserve to be picked. Going to NYSMA that year and receiving a score of 98 on an advanced level Italian song as someone who thought they couldn’t accomplish singing such a song, was one of my greatest memories. It was all thanks to Mr. Price!

The shows, concerts, tours, and competitions our music program had thanks to him will never be forgotten by us alumni! I’ll forever miss having select choral classes with him!”

“Mr. Price has been an exceptional asset to the Brunswick CSD music program and an amazing colleague to work alongside.

As his "neighbor" directly across the hall, I have been so lucky to see the rapport that he develops with each of his students and the lasting connections he creates with every single one of them - they trust that he will help them to develop and refine their skills in singing and stage presence, and they respect and work hard for him knowing that he will help them to excel.

From a teaching perspective, everyday feels like a celebration in his classroom, and the joy and confidence that the students exude is pure magic! I am proud to work alongside Mr. Price, and I fully believe he will continue to be an exceptional educator who inspires and supports his students for years to come!”
